The plan is to work with the 6 ideas that came over from children this week. We photocopy the ideas that come over and then read them, watch any videos that have come over and then unpack them in terms of our palletes (space, colour, texture) with the group.

Brainstorm as a group

Then break off and work on the 6 designs - translate into cardboard or plasticine

As soon as possible Gregory and Mick to work digitally with designs with each group. Hopefully some designs will be laser cut during the session as well.

Designs

These are the designs that were generated during this session.

Bullfrog

Handbag

1.3 metres high

2 metres wide

1metre depth

Clasp needs to be 35cm shorter in width than on file. To create a latch a hole needs to be cut in the middle bottom of the clasp. Be sure that it does not go over the hole. Then we need to laser cut the latch piece to go over the top.

hole is 30cm wide

Needle: 900 long and 10 width at the widest end (with the hole) and tapers to a point at the other end.

The back side has holes with coloured material strips attached to them (for threading and weaving). Maybe every second row has material attached. The front side there is a buckle that you can lift and peer inside. When you lift the clasp there may be 'ahhh sound' to signify the magic needle. There are also green dots painted on the outside. Inside: a knitting needle is suspended (using fishing line). It is chrome in colour and may have lights to illuminate it more. Inside could be painted black as well.

Robot's Brain

Inputs of the brain relate to 5 senses. Ear holes for sound coming from Pluto. Eyes have lights or buttons. Cogs for food to go into its mouth. Inside there are cogs, wires, spinning wheels, things to pull. There could be pictures of unicorns.

Catamaran

2.4 metres length/ 2.2 metres wide

80cm width sides

60cm between sides

2.4 metres high for the mast (it is attached to the bridge that joins the two sides)

Flags can be swapped in and out (flag making station to make your own somewhere else or bring from workshop earlier).

Internal structure is wrapped in soft corrugated cardboard.

Cat sits on the ground

Child on a covered milk crate (in the fab lab)

There is a steering wheel attached to the structure near the seat
