DBCYP Design session

The aim of this session (and the second one the following week) is to develop an understanding of design in Adobe Illustrator. It is hoped that the skills will then be applied to designing posters, signs and signage for events in Deception Bay.

Plan for the design workshop

Meet everyone at the side of The Edge to begin in the Fab Lab

Head to the DML

(Mick facilitating. Em assisting)

Go through the process of using illustrator

Set homework to research old style posters, identifying what style you like (colours) and identifying imagery for designing own poster next week (using laser)

Reflection

It was a great session. 14 people attended.

There were participants snap chatting The Edge as soon as they stepped into the building. Seeing how the laser works and getting inspired with the possibilities first up was great. No one (except Jen from dbcyp) had ever used Illustrator before. Everyone learnt new skills, asked questions and engaged during the whole session.

It was also great to see that the ones that I had met last week in dbay were still inspired about the OLA project and took photos of spyder board of the ideas that were coming up here.
