Dr. Amelia Mycelia

Dr. Amelia Mycelia is an esteemed mushroom scientist who travelled from eastern Estonia after learning of sightings of the previously elusive species of Rainbow Enokki mushrooms from all over Queensland. She has since travelled from Bamaga to Coolangatta documenting and researching this species of mushroom before settling in Brisbane, where there seems to be an absurd amount of Rainbow Enokki.

Dr. Amelia Mycelia talks in an erratic manner, opting to use vampiric slang whenever she can. This desire may stem from a lifelong fear that she is always surrounded by vampire kind - believing that if she may blend in, they will leave her unharmed. Dr. Amelia Mycelia dresses in long black skirts and long black shirts, and a large black sunhat that has begun to fray at the edges; she has never been seen without her handy polaroid camera. She is unquestionably an eccentric character, and quite hard to get a hold of if you wish to interview her…

Grumpus of Nowhere Specific

Has seen a great many things that no one else has ever seen but that it of no consequence because everyone has seen a great many things that no one else has ever seen. That is the consequence of their being so many people and so many things to see that no one can ever see everything; it is an empirical impossibility! To think otherwise is utter stuff and nonsense!

Studying at the great universities of Not-Florence and Definitely-Not-Melbourne, Grumpus' special area of research, skill and academic prowess is the finagling of non-specific fictional positive caricatures of the middle aged Middle Age veterinarian technicians servicing the poultry sector of the West Countries of the thirteenth century.

Publications include:

The Habits of Poultry Effected by Seasonal Affective Disorders, a deep dive into poultry responses to winters and the knowledge that Winter is Coming,
the seminal philosophical essay Chicken and Egg: Which Came First? and,
his classic biography Sensational! The Life and Times of Carmilla the Chicken.

Grumpus has a discerning cat named Didimus, an unfriendly dog named Mouse and an uncertain relationship with a colony of possums living in the nearby parklands, that have no regards for personal space or cookies. Grumpus resides everywhere but nowhere specific, which might explain the unfriendly disposition of his dog Mouse.

His Lordship has “done” everywhere except Mars because who would want to go there anyway. He knows all of the important trends like whether to wear sunglasses on your face, on your neck or on your head. Above all he is an expert on the economic potential of trained circus fleas and other exploitable species. As a child he was gifted a flock of wild unicorns for his 5th birthday before selling their horns for $5,000,000,000 and “retiring” them the next day. It must be noted that his Lordship finds the pain of others (human or otherwise) tolerable as long as their moans do not disturb aperitif time on the jetty. Has a girlfriend named Roberta who has no opinions or knowledge (that he is aware of) and knows better than to complain lest she be retired like the unicorns.
