Learning Outcomes

Participants will design, cut out and shape, a superhero face mask. A heat gun will be required to allow EVA foam and thermoplastics to be manipulated. Not suitable for young children as it requires tool usage and sharps.

Session Plan

5 mins: Show participants various mask designs and completed product 10 mins: Participants cut out mask on EVA foam using templates or design their own 20 mins: Using heat gun to shape foam, with the option of bonding thermoplastic over the top for durability. Bonding agent to be used to hold any pieces together 5 mins: Enjoy your new superhero mask!

Materials Req

  • Thermoplastic such as warbola or thibra
  • EVA foam
  • Mask templates
  • Contact cement (bonding agent)

Equipment Req

  • Heat gun
  • Gloves (for heat protection)
  • Scalpel/modelling knife
