Laser cutter- when was invented and what is it generally used for?

- Fun fact - Laser is an acronym which stands for Light Amplification By Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The term was coined by Gordon Gould in 1959

- Interesting fact for a child/teenager – some of today’s lasers are so small they can be hooked to a desktop, just like a printer!

- Interesting fact for an adult - Laser cutting is a safe and environmentally sustainable method of cutting. Operator safety is of paramount

importance and many failsafe checks are built into the process.
